Russian state TV clarifies that Chaly will continue to work in the power structures of Sevastopol. Its task will be to formulate a strategy for the long-term development of the region.

“I think that Alexey Mikhailovich (Chaly) himself made this decision. He completed his mission. Perhaps he did not see himself as the leader of the city,” commented City Council deputy Gennady Basov, leader of the Russian Bloc.

“Alexey Mikhailovich played his role. He did what was needed - he led the people of Sevastopol to reunite with Russia, without fear of the possible consequences. But he is not a politician. Maybe a business executive, but absolutely not a politician. He had big mistakes in terms of personnel policy. It is not clear on what principle he gathered people around him,” says ex-mayor of Sevastopol, deputy Ivan Ermakov.

“Regional” Vadim Kolesnichenko clarified that the castling was known two weeks ago. The politician believes that Menyailo’s appointment is “Putin’s brilliant step.”

“The money changer is a conflict-free figure. I think that it is he who will be able to unite the people of Sevastopol in this difficult time. At the same time, I am sure that he will not run for governor after the election of a new Legislative Assembly. A brilliant move on the part of the president,” Kolesnichenko said.

He added that he has great respect for Chaly as a citizen, but “everyone should mind their own business.” Kolesnichenko believes that the temporary leadership of the city made a lot of mistakes. Including economic ones.

“Crimea has taken away a fairly large number of powers from us, which will affect the filling of the budget. It will take a long period of time to get them back. In Russia everything is not so simple. Apparently, the government of the republic was better versed in Russian legislation than we were. Just an example - the agricultural inspectorate is now subordinate to Simferopol. Last year, her work brought our region 6 million hryvnia, and Crimea 700 thousand. Comments are unnecessary,” Kolesnichenko said.

Communist Vasily Parkhomenko said that he assumed in advance that the admiral would become governor. However, the deputy does not believe that Chaly himself expressed a desire to resign from his post as acting. governor.

“Apparently, the president decided so. And I can’t say anything about the future work of Alexey Mikhailovich, but, as far as I know, he has no experience in long-term construction at the regional level,” Parkhomenko explained.

The ex-head of the city, Valery Saratov, believes that “a team of young professionals from Russia with experience in other regions should come to the city. Otherwise, Sevastopol has somehow turned sour.”

Help "Navigator": Sergei Menyailo was born in North Ossetia. He rose from the commander of the navigator's combat unit on the base minesweeper of the Kola Flotilla of the Northern Fleet to the deputy commander of the Black Sea Fleet. In December 2011, he was discharged from military service. On April 12, 2010, he was one of three candidates for the post of head of the Republic of North Ossetia proposed by the United Russia party to the President of Russia.
