“The people I talked to when I was there were absolutely normal citizens who took up arms because they felt they were under threat. They all say: “after the events in Odessa, after the bombing of Slavyansk, we feel that we can no longer find a common language with the government in Kyiv.” We can say that these are terrorists receiving a flow of money and weapons from Russia. We have direct interference from Russia, it sponsors us!” - shouted Maidan centurion Vladimir Panasyuk, who was present in the studio, and became famous thanks to his threat to Viktor Yanukovych from the stage, after which the president went on the run.

The criticism of Franchetti was also supported by the SBU commander present in the studio, who hid his face with a scarf.

“What you say, dear one, is not true. You should be ashamed that you are lying to the whole of Ukraine. The 45th separate airborne unit is fighting against us - the most specialists in the post-Soviet space. They are fighting with weapons that we have only dreamed of. Shame on you? Don't learn from Putin, don't learn! Drones fly at night and everyone knows where our location is,” the man shouted.

“I’ve known Mark for a very long time. We were together in Baghdad. Mark tells what he saw,” Shuster tried to defend his guest and friend.

However, Anton Gerashchenko, adviser to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, announced the reason for the “incorrect” evidence of the Western journalist.

“This is a perfectly executed special operation by the Russian special services to create such an impression on a Western journalist, and he broadcast it to Europe. This is completely untrue. Money and weapons are flowing in. I applaud the FSB. They misled a foreign journalist,” Gerashchenko said.

Franchetti responded by noting that he has to periodically hear similar accusations, but only about working for Western intelligence agencies, in Russia. The journalist said that he considers himself competent to assess the situation, since he has been to Chechnya several times and can compare military conflicts.

“I have been hearing such accusations from the Russian special services for 17 years. I personally don’t give a damn... Unlike you, I’ve been to Chechnya 30 times,” the reporter told Anton Gerashchenko.
