The official told reporters on Friday.
“I don’t really understand why this is necessary. “Park Kultury” is the historical name of the metro station. I understand that we need to name something in honor of Crimea, but we have a boulevard, the Crimean Bridge. If we need to name something else, let’s name it, but only something new,” said Leonid Pechatnikov.
Let us remind you that the day before, State Duma deputy from the “A Just Russia” faction Oleg Mikheev sent an official appeal to Sergei Sobyanin, in which he proposed to rename the “Park Kultury” metro station of the red line of the Moscow metro to “Krymskaya Square”.
According to the Duma member, this will help not only perpetuate the memory of the reunification of Crimea with the Russian Federation on the metro map, but also restore historical justice - the station was designed under the name “Crimean Square” during its construction in 1935.
