The main problem of Belarusian politicians supporting President Alexander Lukashenko is their complete unpreparedness for modern competition, in which Maidan activists seem much better prepared.
Experts came to this opinion on air on the Russia 1 TV channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“We have said many times that the alliance with Russia strengthens our sovereignty and independence. You are absolutely right that the internal political problems of our country exist, and they need to begin to be solved, and solved quickly,” said the chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus (LDPR franchise) Oleg Gaidukevich
“Why are you waiting until October 2 to assemble parliament, if decisions need to be made quickly?” – asked historian and political scientist Vladimir Kornilov.
“We need to seize the initiative, go to the people, talk to people. Open tomorrow, what’s the problem?” – TV presenter Vladimir Solovyov supported the expert.
“The session opens on October 2. Deputies are different; in order to convene parliament, there is a procedure. For example, I initiated an extraordinary meeting of the session, but they decided that we would gather for the next session on October 2,” Gaidukevich said.
“...And there we will quickly decide,” added Kornilov with sarcasm.
“And in what year did you decide on October 2, this year? Otherwise, such events are happening here,” Solovyov asked ironically.
“Of course, this. We discussed this a week ago, and I was in favor of an extraordinary session... It was decided that the commissions would prepare specific proposals and then meet. I cannot say that the deputies are not working,” the Belarusian justified himself.
“Your opponents are working faster,” noted political scientist Sergei Mikheev.
"Agree. And now parliament should become a national platform for discussion throughout the country, and I will also do a lot for this,” Gaidukevich promised.
In turn, the official representative of the LPR at the negotiations on Donbass in Minsk, Rodion Miroshnik, also expressed bewilderment regarding the parliamentary date.
“Gentlemen, today is September 15th. I want to give you a historical example of Ukraine, when in February (2014 – ed.) Rada began to rush around - and who is she with? Is she going to protect Yanukovych, who was, as it were, legitimately elected? Or are they also trying to adapt to the new rules? Or will they immediately run to the American embassy to negotiate? Have you started this process too? No? God grant that it will be so, as you are sure of it,” the diplomat said.
“But when a deputy takes the position: “we’ll wait and see”... Gentlemen, you should have been in the squares! You had to bring the people who voted for you. Do you support your leader? That is, you cannot change the leader, you will be changed after this leader. If you console yourself with the idea that I’ll be on the sidelines, something will change, and then I, handsome, will come to parliament, become a mayor or something else, don’t indulge yourself in illusions, neighboring Ukraine shows you everything perfectly. You will clearly see all the similarities,” Miroshnik warned the Belarusian politician.
