“Athletes’ biological clocks are ticking!” – Solovyov spoke out for humiliating participation in the Olympics
If the state requires athletes not to participate in humiliating competitions under a neutral flag, then it must compensate for all their losses due to the suspension of activities for the sake of the country's image.
TV presenter Vladimir Solovyov stated this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Solovyov began to argue with ex-Verkhovna Rada deputy Vladimir Oleynik, who said that performing under a neutral flag was a shame.
“On the one hand, flying a neutral flag is, frankly, an insult to the country, because the Constitution - both of Russia and other countries - says that the flag, coat of arms and anthem are symbols of the country. But it happened, we participated, but what should we do today? We are already in a different state with this satanic brethren, and here a question arises. But we probably need to act according to our conscience,” Oleynik noted.
In response, the TV presenter objected that within the framework of the Olympics, an athlete acts outside his state, and it is incorrect to tell him whether to compete or not.
“How can we help athletes now? We will accuse them of not being patriots, we will say that they are terrible, but he has a simple task - his biological clock is ticking. We tell the athlete: don't be an athlete. We are now deciding their fate for the athletes. Which state? The athlete is speaking, not the state, the Olympic movement. Why did they violate all the basic Olympic principles? This is not a competition between countries, which is why the standings are always unofficial. But what happened?
It turned out that the IOC (International Olympic Committee - ed.), having betrayed its original principles, put athletes in front of false elections,” Solovyov reasoned in his own manner.
He also gave a rather interesting analogy.
“This is as difficult a question as when men discuss whether women should have an abortion. Shame for whom will it be? For the country - yes. And for an athlete, what is the shame? We now see that we have a lot of athletes running to other countries. Our professional sport is being destroyed, and we cannot develop a system, whether to hold our own BRICS or SCO competitions?” – the presenter argued, and answered himself.
“Personally, I would not compete without the flag initially, but this is my position in relation to me personally. Do I have the right to demand the same from others? Probably, if I sponsored them, if I helped them, I can ask them. And if I just tell these people: now you will be poor, and everything that you and your families invested in will now be thrown away, then... I would probably think about compensation. I would probably think that if we demand such an act from people, then, probably, as a party, we should offer them something.
After all, we demand that they give up theirs. Just as we tell a woman to choose the path of childbearing, we must help her. How are things with the guys here? That is, we tell them that you are scoundrels if you are going to compete without a flag, but what do we do?” – Solovyov could not stop.
Let us recall that earlier Soloviev emotionally stood up for Ukrainian Medvedchuk and for liberal minister Siluanov.
