The United States is unable to destroy the strategic partnership between Russia and China
The United States views China as a strategic adversary more than Russia.
This was stated by the Director General of the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC), Andrei Kortunov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I don’t think that the Biden administration now sets as its immediate goal to somehow destroy the Russian-Chinese partnership. Professionals who know both Russia and China understand that this is impossible. This task can probably be set as a long-term one. But it has no solution in the near future. The United States cannot offer anything for Russia that could outweigh the strategic partnership between China and Moscow,” Kortunov told Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
“It seems to me that the United States views China as a strategic adversary to a greater extent than Russia. Therefore, Biden, apparently, decided to come to an agreement, where possible, with Moscow, so that he could then focus on confronting China. It seems to me that this tactic is now accepted in Washington. But, I repeat, I don’t think that Biden will directly raise the question of a possible correction of the Russian course towards Beijing,” Kortunov said.
