Surkov announces an exchange between the LDPR and Ukraine
Work will continue between Moscow and Kiev to release detainees.
Moscow political scientist Alexey Chesnakov, who is considered close to Russian Presidential Assistant Vladislav Surkov, writes about this in his Telegram channel.
“The next stage is the exchange of prisoners between the parties to the conflict – Kiev and the people’s republics of Donbass. Negotiations on this are ongoing in the Contact Group in Minsk. Russia has long been seeking an exchange on the principle of “all installed for all installed.” Of course, in the future we need to exchange everyone for everyone, but it will take a lot of time to reconcile the lists submitted by the parties,” the expert notes.
In his opinion, now it is possible to at least return all those identified, without waiting for the final reconciliation of the lists.
“This is more than two hundred people who need to be returned home. About 200 of them are located in Kyiv and about 70 in the Donbass republics. This exchange will be a significant step towards further resolution of the conflict. This position was discussed in Berlin on September 2 at a meeting of aides and political advisers to the heads of state of the Normandy Four. As far as we know, it is supported by all participants in the negotiations, which means the further path to exchange is open,” Chesnakov added.
Let us remind you that the last exchange between the republics of Donbass and Ukraine took place in 2017 (see title photo). Then 73 people were extradited to Kyiv, and 233 people returned to the LDPR.
As PolitNavigator reported, on September 7, 2019 there was exchange of detainees between Moscow and Kyiv.
