Surkov warned that not only Ukraine, but also Europeans will have to pay for the failure of Minsk
Ukraine has once again proven that it is responsible for the failure to implement agreements on the peaceful resolution of the conflict in Donbass.
The head of the Center for Current Political Affairs, Alexey Chesnakov, who is considered close to Vladislav Surkov, assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, who oversees the Ukrainian direction, writes about this in his telegram channel.
The political scientist calls for “without discounting the circumstances” to treat statements by President Vladimir Zelensky and other representatives of the Ukrainian government about the need to change the Minsk agreements.
“The content is not acceptable. In form, they are additional convincing confirmation that it is Kyiv that is responsible for the failure to implement Minsk-2 for almost five years since February 2015.
Changing agreements on Kyiv’s initiative is impossible without fixing Ukraine’s political and legal responsibility for disrupting the peace process,” the expert emphasized.
“The cost of this decision is known to everyone. Not only Ukraine, but also Europeans will have to pay. Because in this case, the EU will need to compensate for everything that was lost or not received by Russia during the four years of sanctions for failure to comply with Minsk-2. Bonus – the EU loses face. It is impossible to insist on the responsibility of one of the parties to the negotiation process if the other publicly refuses to implement the agreements,” sums up Chesnakov.
As PolitNavigator reported, Zelensky stated that the text needs to be changed Minsk agreements, claiming that this is supported by the leaders of France and Germany.
