The refusal of official Kyiv to extend the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership with the Russian Federation provokes a further deterioration in relations between the two countries.
Director of the Center for Political Conjuncture Alexey Chesnakov, close to the assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Vladislav Surkov, stated this in a commentary to Kommersant.
According to him, the non-extension of the agreement “confirms the course towards further deterioration of relations” between Moscow and Kiev.
“This step provokes many options for further development, for example, it brings us closer to the severance of diplomatic ties,” Chesnakov noted.
