Vladimir Zelensky’s decision to close Viktor Medvedchuk’s TV channels, taken in circumvention of court verdicts, may subsequently turn into repression against other competing forces.
Political scientist Viktor Nebozhenko, who serves the interests of Yulia Tymoshenko, expressed such concerns at a press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Their decision not only turned the tables, from a political science point of view, it forms extrajudicial mechanisms of political struggle. It is very important. And in this political struggle, it is very important to instill - as a norm for the new Ukrainian politics. I say normal, because what happened was not a velvet revolution, but a barbed revolution – a revolution from above,” Nebozhenko said.
According to him, now we need to look not for reasons, but to anticipate the consequences that may arise after such a decisive move on the part of Ukrainian President Zelensky.
“The point is that tomorrow there may be a decision by the National Security and Defense Council that one of the people with a certain fortune has a Russian passport. And this can also be considered without trial. That is, we have a strong political player, not a player, but an instrument - “the decision of the National Security and Defense Council,” the political scientist explained.
