This opinion was expressed in a comment to PolitNavigator by the director of the Ukrainian Institute of Policy Analysis and Management Ruslan Bortnik.
“Trump’s victory will mean a revision of policy, if not in relation to Ukraine, then in relation to the current political elites,” the expert predicts. – The current Ukrainian government tried with all its might to drown Trump. It was in Ukraine that the scandal surrounding political strategist Paul Manafort, who headed Trump’s campaign headquarters, began at the instigation of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau. The scandal raised at the initiative of the Ukrainian leadership forced Manafort to resign. The administration of President Petro Poroshenko sided with Clinton. And she won’t be forgotten.”
“The scope of this revision will be determined by relations with Russia,” Bortnik believes. – If it is possible to agree with Russia on the division of spheres of influence, this may mean a complete revision of American policy towards Ukraine. If not, this will lead to a change in pro-Western political elites. The bet will be made not on Poroshenko, Avakov or Turchinov, but on some Leshchenko or Saakashvili.”
