“In fact, no referendum is being held there. This is nothing more than an information campaign by terrorists to cover up their crimes with the opinions of residents of Donetsk and Lugansk,” he said.
Pashinsky explained that in order to hold a referendum in the territory where 6 of millions of citizens live, thousands of polling stations must be opened and the work of election commissions organized.
“In two-thirds of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions there is no referendum at all, and in some large cities that are under the control of terrorists today, in fact, these are mini-rallies that are recorded with printed ballots,” he said.
Pashinsky added that the officials of Donetsk and Lugansk regions who will take part “in this criminal action” will be held accountable in accordance with the laws of Ukraine.
“We will, within the framework of the laws of Ukraine, react harshly to any manifestations of separatism and terrorism,” noted Sergei Pashinsky.
