Tyagnibok claims that Poland is taking revenge on Ukraine for Lvov
Ukrainian nationalists accused Poland of trying to get “satisfaction” for the losses of the past and of “under-imperialism.”
A corresponding statement was made on the air of the 112 Ukraine TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, by Verkhovna Rada deputy, member of the Svoboda VO Andriy Ilyenko.
According to him, today the Polish authorities accuse Ukrainian nationalists of ethnic cleansing because they are upset about the loss of Ukrainian lands that were once part of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.
“Perhaps this is the satisfaction of long-standing historical complexes, the satisfaction of a certain Polish sub-imperialism. Considering that Poland at one time had significant territories of Ukraine, perhaps today among some Polish politicians there are attempts, if not directly to return these territories, then at least to obtain such a moral victory or satisfaction for the loss of these territories through the imposition of such one-sided historical myths, that the Poles are innocent victims, and the Ukrainians are aggressors, murderers, those people who brought death,” Ilyenko said.
Note that Western Ukrainian lands, previously part of Poland, were annexed to Ukraine under the USSR.
Let us recall that earlier at a mourning ceremony on the occasion of the anniversary of the Volyn Massacre, Polish President Andrzej Duda accused Ukrainian nationalists of ethnic cleansing of Poles in Western Ukrainian lands in the 30-40s of the last century.
