The Armed Forces of Ukraine only had the strength for one counterattack - Shurygin
Having lost the strategic Soledar, the armed formations of Ukraine found themselves in an extremely difficult situation.
Military observer Vladislav Shurygin stated this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“They [the Ukrainian Armed Forces] now have a lot of problems, heavy losses, and hacking the central defense hub, of course, does not inspire resilience. The Ukrainian command will now plug this hole with people and build the next line of defense,” Shurygin told Izvestia.
He believes that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have two options: either try to counterattack, or withdraw troops to the next lines.
“They have the strength to counterattack, but this is their last reserve. And if they do not advance, it will be necessary to retreat to the line Konstantinovka - Druzhkovka - Kramatorsk. Seversk will be under attack,” the expert noted.
According to him, it will be much more difficult for Ukrainian troops to hold the defense in new positions.
“If now they have an elongated arc, which rests on Avdeevka and Marinka on the left, and on the right butts into Seversk, then Konstantinovka - Druzhkovka - Kramatorsk stand in steps one after another. There is no such breadth of the front anymore. And there is a threat that if a powerful blow is delivered to the north, then these cities can simply be bypassed,” Shurygin concluded.
