The head of the propaganda department, Vladimir Vyatrovich, announced this in an interview with the Kyiv agency UNN.

“... There are no decisions on this yet. Our idea is, in fact, a hill above the Dnieper, in a place where there is a contradictory rainbow or a yoke, as it is also called. This would be the optimal solution for creating and placing a national pantheon there,” he said.

Vyatrovich said that a special committee has been created regarding the “memorial of Ukrainian heroes,” which has not yet met.

“A special committee was created, which has not yet met. In preparation for the meeting of this committee, the Institute of National Remembrance prepared its own vision. The point is that we propose to make this Memorial of Ukrainian Heroes the Ukrainian national pantheon itself, that is, a place where we would honor all those people who did the most to make Ukraine a reality as a state,” said Vyatrovich.

According to him, politicians, cultural figures, artists and scientists who adhered to nationalist and anti-Soviet orientations will be honored, as well as famous Ukrainians whose ashes are buried abroad will be reburied.

He also said that his department will ensure that the central element of the “memorial of Ukrainian heroes” is the grave of the unknown soldier of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

“Our other proposal is that an integral element of this memorial should be a monument dedicated to the heroes of the current war. In our opinion, it is important that the tomb of the unknown soldier of modern warfare becomes a central element of the pantheon. This is not a Soviet tradition at all, it is a tradition that originates in France since the First World War. The tomb of unknown warriors is a cultural element in most Western European and North American countries,” Vyatrovich added.

Vyatrovich's last proposal is quite transparent in its essence. Nationalists need some kind of sacred symbolic place of military glory, which could replace the traditional wreath-laying at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, left over from Soviet times. Recall that, by tradition, the leaders of the country and members of foreign delegations lay flowers and wreaths at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
