Yatsenyuk wants the southeastern regions to defend themselves from Russia at their own expense
The Yatsenyuk government, through regional state administrations, held a tender for the construction of engineering fortifications for a total amount of UAH 850 million, reports the portal “Our Money”. At the same time, UAH 355 million will be allocated through local regional administrations.

The Yatsenyuk government understood the thesis about “decentralization” in a unique way. Through the regional administrations of 11 Ukrainian regions (part of Northern and Central Ukraine, Odessa and Transcarpathian regions, Western Ukraine with the exception of three regions of Galicia and the Chernivtsi region) a tender was held for the construction of various defensive fortifications in the Lugansk and Donetsk regions.
The amount that will be taken from local budgets is UAH 355 million. The total amount of spending on engineering fortifications in 2015 is UAH 850 million.
The largest amount will be spent by the Dnepropetrovsk and Zaporozhye regions. Each of these regions will allocate about UAH 63 million from its budget. More than 19 million UAH will be taken for the construction of fortifications in the Donetsk region near the westernmost region of Ukraine - Transcarpathian.
They will not allocate a penny from their budgets, however, the Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Chernivtsi and Lviv regions, and Volyn region, neighboring the Lviv region, will lose about 32 million UAH.
