Deputy from the “People's Front” Viktor Yelensky stated this from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada.
“Dear voters, I want to emphasize again and again that the Orthodox faith is not about rockets and airplanes, which are consecrated by the metropolitans of the Moscow Patriarchate. The Christian faith is about love, it is about unity and solidarity. What kind of solidarity can we talk about when Moscow priests, who drive around in Bentleys, who bless the weapons used to kill Ukrainians, are now throwing people onto the walls of the Verkhovna Rada, so that the Verkhovna Rada does not end spiritual slavery?” the deputy said.
At this time, under the building of the Ukrainian parliament, despite the pouring rain, parishioners of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church stood in prayer, thus protesting against the draft law 4128, which was ready for consideration. According to the document, almost anyone can declare that they are a parishioner of a particular temple and demand its transfer to another denomination.
Believers say that the law, if adopted, will legitimize church raiding. The scheme for seizing an unwanted temple looks like this: hundreds of activists are brought in from other regions, who declare that they are parishioners of this temple and demand its transfer to another denomination.
