Elena Belozerskaya, a fighter of the so-called Ukrainian Volunteer Army, created by the ex-leader of the Right Sector, Dmitry Yarosh, wrote about this on her Facebook page.
“Pray for our people in Svetlodarsk Bulge,” the nationalist called. – I emphasize that this is my personal opinion. There is no need to refer to me as an insider, an eyewitness (I am far from there now) or a military expert. But. Either I don’t understand anything about this war, or this is an offensive, a Ukrainian offensive. Liberation of our territories.
Losses like today are difficult, but these are ordinary losses for the offensive, which are always greater than in defense. Don't believe any official explanation of the root causes and just pray that the guys will succeed.
Now they will take, or have already taken, an important bridgehead, and the enemy will begin to smoke them out from there with all the means at his disposal. It will be hell, but they must survive. Pray.”
The fact that the Ukrainian Armed Forces went on the offensive was also indirectly confirmed by the Ukrainian propagandist, editor of the website Censor.net Yuriy Butusov, who wrote on the social network that the reason for the battle “is the provocative actions of the Russian occupation forces in the area, which hold the territory that, according to the terms of the Minsk agreements must be under our control.”
At the same time, Butusov said that “the enemy is not currently taking offensive actions, but continues to fire.”
At the same time, he acknowledged the heavy losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (more than 30 killed and wounded) and noted that “it was not possible to completely suppress the enemy’s heavy artillery fire.”
