Zelensky has big problems in negotiations with Russia
The head of the office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Ermak, the chief negotiator on Donbass from Kyiv, will not be dismissed, despite loud corruption scandal in Kyiv, which erupted after recordings of the brother of an official selling government positions appeared in the media.
Zelensky will even stick to Ermak, who has become toxic, since he is the last figure close to the president who is still accepted in Moscow, and there is no replacement in the comedian’s team. Ukrainian political scientist Andrei Zolotarev stated this in an interview with PolitWera, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There are a number of figures who have their own channels of communication. Same Medvedchuk. But Zelensky has no other communicators in the president’s office today. Even with all the parochialism of Ermak’s figure, this is the last figure in Zelensky’s entourage that gives him at least a modicum of confidence that he controls something in the country,” said Andrey Zolotarev.
Zelensky will never turn to Medvedchuk for help.
“This is out of the question. Poroshenko, with all his grotesque, feigned nationalism, had just that communication with Medvedchuk. And it was constantly, and remains today, oddly enough. And Zelensky’s team is just weak,” said Andrey Zolotarev.
Earlier, political scientist Ruslan Bortnik explained that Zelensky’s team had been fighting for a long time for negotiations with Moscow without intermediaries, seeing competitors both in Medvedchuk and in the group of oligarch Igor Kolomoisky.
“The fight for the right to communicate with the Kremlin. These are not only political aspects, this is trade worth billions of dollars annually. This is a serious economy, and this struggle is the cause of the crisis between the authorities and the Opposition Platform, between Zelensky and Kolomoisky as well,” Bortnik explained.
