Zelensky wants to restore the article for illegal enrichment, abolished under Poroshenko
The elected President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky said that his team has developed a bill that would restore liability for illegal enrichment, abolished under the still-current President Petro Poroshenko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was discussed at a meeting with Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius, Zelensky’s press service reports.
According to the press service, during the meeting Linas Linkevicius recalled that the West is especially closely following the fight against corruption in Ukraine.
“The abolition of criminal liability for illicit enrichment contradicts Ukraine’s obligations to the European Union,” the minister noted.
Vladimir Zelensky informed the guest that his team had developed a corresponding bill that would restore liability for illegal enrichment.
Let us remind you that NABU and SAPO initiated 106 criminal proceedings on the grounds of a crime for illegal enrichment.
On March 27, the Constitutional Court of Ukraine repealed the article of the Criminal Code on illegal enrichment. As a result, all cases that were initiated under this article were cancelled.
