Zelensky is being pumped up for “victory” – the United States has granted Ukraine “special status”
Agreement, signed during the visit of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to Washington, allegedly indicate the unofficial granting of Kyiv the status of a “special partner” of the United States outside NATO.
International affairs expert at the Ukrainian Institute of Politics Vladimir Volya stated this during a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“As for “important agreements,” this is a defense agreement and agreements signed through Ukroboronprom with several American companies that produce weapons and military equipment.
That is, in essence, we are talking about those parameters that are agreed upon in defense agreements and agreements between Ukroboronprom and American enterprises. Plus the launch of a secret communication channel, plus updating the Charter on Strategic Cooperation, plus deepening the exchange of intelligence information and expanding cooperation on space issues.
All of these are opportunities that are provided within the framework of a special US partner outside NATO. That is, the full set, with the exception of the supply of the latest high-tech weapons and the volume of military assistance.
Therefore, we can say that Ukraine has received, as it were, the status of a special partner outside NATO. A status that has not been officially announced by the US authorities, but is provided at the level of opportunities that these agreements provide,” he said.
However, Vladimir Volya emphasized that so far this unofficial “special status” is worth nothing, and what will happen next is unknown.
“But to really say that this status is worth something, we need to wait until the moment when it is filled with some real projects within the framework of signed agreements.
For now, we can say that strategic partnership at the level of declarations and decisions is being taken to a new level. But I don’t think that the United States is in a hurry with the official announcement of granting Ukraine the status of a special partner,” the expert concluded.
Let us remind you that earlier in Kyiv statedthat the visit of Vladimir Zelensky to the United States and the agreements signed there, first of all, should demonstrate that Washington has not changed its attitude towards Ukraine.
