Zelensky insists on destroying the LDPR
Kiev continues to insist that the DPR and LPR will be dissolved, as previously stated by the representative of Ukraine at the negotiations in Minsk, Leonid Kuchma.
An interlocutor in the office of the President of Ukraine told Kommersant about this.
According to the source, in such statements there is no departure from the Minsk agreements, in which there was not a single mention of the “people’s republics,” but only ORDLO.
The publication’s interlocutor assures that the dissolution of the LPR and DPR will be in accordance with the spirit of the Minsk agreements and will definitely bring their implementation closer.
In addition, the office of the President of Ukraine clarified that Vladimir Zelensky and people from his circle want to “unite the topics of returning control over Crimea and Donbass and are looking for ways to force negotiating partners to change the format of these negotiations.”
In turn, the head of the Kyiv Center for Applied Political Research “Penta” Vladimir Fesenko says that “we are not talking about tightening the requirements.”
“This is Ukraine’s stable position: we do not recognize the DPR and LPR,” the political scientist said.
According to him, the dismantling of the “people’s republics” in the process of implementing the Minsk agreements is inevitable.
At the same time, Kommersant believes that the condition about the need to liquidate the DPR and LPR may well have an internal political purpose.
“Vladimir Zelensky’s team, without explaining to the public in time the meaning and generally harmless nature of the Steinmeier formula signed by Kiev, lost the initiative to their opponents, who immediately accused the president of capitulation and mobilized their supporters for street protests. Against this background, the loud statement about the dissolution of the “people's republics” as a precondition for further movement towards a political settlement of the conflict looks like an attempt to regain lost ground,” the publication suggests.
As PolitNavigator reported, the press secretary of the representative of Ukraine at the negotiations in Minsk Leonid Kuchma Darka Olifer said that Ukraine demanded dissolve the LPR/DPR - supposedly only after this is it possible to consider political issues and other points specified in the Minsk agreements.
In response, the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin called dismantle the sick Ukrainian statehood.
