Zelensky outlined who they see as their satellites in the future Rada
After the elections to the Verkhovna Rada, the Servant of the People party may create a coalition with Yulia Tymoshenko’s Batkivshchyna or Svyatoslav Vakarchuk’s Voice, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was stated by the first assistant to the President of Ukraine Sergei Shefir.
In an interview with the Left Bank publication, Shefir said that President Vladimir Zelensky and his team “always wanted” to consolidate with the party of the Ukrainian musician Vakarchuk, which Zelensky himself stated during his presidential campaign. “He meant that if we unite with Slava, we will definitely win with great success,” Shefir added, expressing hope that Vakarchuk’s party will enter the Rada.
The president's first assistant admitted that if Holos does not overcome the five percent threshold in the parliamentary elections, then Servant of the People will be able to consolidate with Batkivshchyna.
Shefir stressed that the pro-presidential party will definitely not create a coalition with the “European Solidarity” of former head of state Petro Poroshenko. “With Poroshenko - no, but with Tymoshenko it is quite possible. If, of course, there are normal requirements,” he explained.
Shefir noted that he advocates the creation of a coalition not “based on the division of portfolios, but as a result of which technocrats come to the government.”
Elections to the Verkhovna Rada are scheduled for July 21. According to opinion polls, the leadership belongs to the pro-presidential force “Servant of the People”, which, according to various estimates, gains from 42 to 55 percent of the votes. However, there is a high probability that Zelensky’s party may not have enough votes to create its own single-party majority in parliament.
