Zelensky was accused of using the coronavirus to lift sanctions
Ukrainian diplomats and parliamentarians were unable to completely prevent Moscow’s attempt to use the pandemic and the quarantine imposed because of it as a reason to lift international sanctions.
Elizaveta Yasko, a deputy from the Servant of the People and head of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE, stated this on air on the ATR TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Sanctions are a very important topic. Unfortunately, the coronavirus was used by the Russian Federation as an excuse to communicate the need to lift or ease sanctions. The Ukrainian parliament accepted the appeals, and I personally sent letters through PACE, I published an article saying that this has no connection - the issue of sanctions and coronavirus,” Yasko said.
However, she could not find an answer to Aider Muzhdabaev’s question about whether it was possible to repel this “attack” of Moscow. She only suggested that the Russians expected more and stated the need to continue the fight.
