Zelensky was explained the desire to swear him in on May 19
The date of his inauguration, May 19, proposed by the team of Vladimir Zelensky, but rejected by the leadership of the Rada, was chosen because it is a convenient day off, on which it is possible not to overload the streets of everyday Kyiv with motorcades with foreign guests.
The speaker of Vladimir Zelensky’s headquarters, political strategist Dmitry Razumkov, said this on the YouTube channel “Politeka Online”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“Actually, it could be the 18th, but Europe Day falls there, if I’m not mistaken. The 20th is not an entirely acceptable day for us, because it is a working day, and we understand that the number of international foreign guests who will come to the inauguration will actually paralyze the city of Kiev, because there will be motorcades, the streets will be open, there will be preparations to all these processes. And Zelensky’s position here was more than clear: in order to minimize this discomfort for the residents of the city of Kyiv in connection with the inauguration. That's why they wanted to hold the inauguration on a day off. The 19th is a day off,” he noted.
In response to the presenter’s note that the head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance, Vladimir Vyatrovich, stated that May 19 marks the Day of Remembrance for Victims of Political Repression, Zelensky’s political consultant retorted that with such logic one can celebrate some dates every day and never get to the inauguration.
“The inauguration is not an entertainment event, it is not a show, it is a procedure of national importance, when the president assumes his rights and responsibilities, actually takes office. Yes, this is a solemn event, but absolutely not entertaining. If we are talking about Vyatrovich’s position, then if you look, every day we will have some dates for Ukraine. They will be either positive or tragic. And if we use this logic like that, then we will never hold the inauguration,” Dmitry Razumkov emphasized.
