Zelensky refuses to restore naval forces
Vladimir Zelensky, who won the presidential elections in Ukraine, needs to provide for a possible Russian offensive through Belarus.
Zelensky’s adviser on security and defense issues, Ivan Aparshin, stated this in an interview with the Kyiv online publication “Apostrophe”.
According to him, Ukraine in the Sea of Azov today is not able to resist Russia.
“And here I would not want our experts to demand that the new president urgently restore the Navy. They started building two new bases there, what is this for? Do they really think that it is possible to stop Russian aggression by building these bases on the seashore? It’s like with a “wall” on the border with Russia - it won’t help at all,” the expert believes.
He also emphasized that it is the president who will approve any military programs.
“And since he doesn’t have a specialized education, it’s very important to tell and explain to him so that he understands. For example, if the offensive is carried out through the territory of Belarus, and we have nothing there. Why not? Because no one planned anything. And here we need to provide for such a possibility. The President of Ukraine must hear different points of view and assess the risks, and, more importantly, the consequences,” Aparshin noted.
At the same time, he added that he would advise Zelensky to immediately dismiss the current Minister of Defense and Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, Aparshin threatened Russia with an unexpected blow.
