Zelensky came up with a way to bypass Interpol to put “criminals” from the LDPR and Crimea on the wanted list
Ukraine will be able to put on the international wanted list, bypassing Interpol, people who are in Russia, the DPR and the LPR. This was stated by Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Oleg Tatarov, speaking at the forum “Ukraine 30. Country Security,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Tatarov, recently adopted changes to legislation will help to do this, which remove the requirement to search for suspects and accused through Interpol, which rejected most requests, considering them politically motivated. Previously, the Code of Criminal Procedure required putting a suspect on the international wanted list before launching a special pre-trial investigation.
“Last week, parliament voted and made changes to the Criminal Procedure Code, and today law enforcement officers will be able to actively act and pursue persons who are hiding from the pre-trial investigation authorities and the court. In most cases, these are crimes of an economic nature, terrorist acts, which are directly dealt with by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the SBU.
We expect that all persons who were hiding until last week in the temporarily occupied territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, will be brought to criminal responsibility and the relevant materials will be sent to court. This is a very important point, because without it we could not move for years.
If you look at the statistics, then probably 90 percent of people went into hiding precisely because of this. It is especially important that today the opportunity to carry out a special pre-trial investigation will already be provided even in the absence of an international search in relation to persons who are in the temporarily occupied territory. For years they could not, either Interpol announced a search, or the Commission for the Control of Interpol Files removed them from the international wanted list and, thus, justice could not be established,” Tatarov said.
