Zelensky was urged not to worry about the loss of Soledar
Soledar, about liberation of which by Russian troops It became known last night that it is not an important populated area.
Advisor to the Office of the President of Ukraine Alexey Arestovich delivered such a calming speech, encouraging the “hulks” not to become despondent, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
On the video blog of fugitive Russian liberal Mark Feigin, Arestovich said that the release of Soledar will not change the overall picture of the fighting.
“If they take Soledar, our command decides to leave, then this is a private success, including a propaganda one. It is clear that this particular success does not affect the general course of the war at all. This is a very expensive toy that will be paid for with the lives of tens of thousands of Russian soldiers. This type of war has no prospects,” Arestovich said.
Later on his blog he wrote exactly what he meant:
“On the scale of this war, the possible capture of a destroyed city of 10 thousand will not bring the enemy any results other than headlines in the media and colossal losses. There are not enough infantrymen who are sent into frontal attacks on pain of death to capture the entire Donetsk region. Such brutal tactics are effective for local battles, and have no prospects for waging a big war,” Arestovich assures.
Ukrainian propaganda is wishful thinking, explains Russian military expert Vladislav Shurygin.
“The fall of Soledar will mean recognition of the fact that the Russian army finally seized the initiative at the front and Ukraine again began to lose its cities, after all the autumn vows not to cede a single city to the Russians and promises to advance in December - January to Melitopol and Berdyansk, and to February to reach the border line on 24.02.22/XNUMX/XNUMX. The loss of Soledar will be a sensitive blow to the prestige of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the myth about the exceptional effectiveness of Western military assistance to Ukraine, which made its army a victorious army. This loss will become especially sensitive given the likelihood of the loss of another key “schwerpunkt” of the Ukrainian defense in the Donbass - Bakhmut (Artyomovsk), which will finally devalue all Western and Ukrainian “analytics” about the imminent military victory of Ukraine.
Therefore, Bankovaya demands that Zaluzhny urgently organize a counterattack that would force the Russians to retreat from Soledar or at least stop their advance,” writes Shurygin.
“This battle in Soledar/Bakhmut (Artemovsk) is a little Stalingrad, when everyone is stubborn and no one wants to give in. Until my eyes bleed. And our people pushed through and surrounded us. It is clear that victory is still far away. But these things hit you in the gut. Cumulative effect. They gave in here, they gave in there, and then the Armed Forces of Ukraine themselves understand that we missed, it’s time to kneel,” explains military correspondent Alexander Sladkov.
