Zelensky decided that the Poles need Ukrainian gas more
The Ukrainian leadership decided to hide the latest energy agreements with Poland from the general public.
Former Minister of Economy of Ukraine Viktor Suslov stated this on the NewsOne TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The most interesting thing is that neither the Ukrainian president nor the Ukrainian government, unfortunately, have ever made public the contents of the agreement with the Poles, in particular with the state-owned Polish company, that we are transferring some gas fields to the Poles on some basis.
The Poles announced. President Duda said this, and there is a statement from the Polish company itself that they, yes, will begin exploration of these gas-bearing areas in Ukraine in the first half of the year. Well, then, obviously, this is being done with the aim of extracting and exporting Ukrainian gas, which, frankly speaking, we ourselves lack, to Poland. Poland's interest is understandable - Ukrainian gas is much cheaper than Russian gas, and they want to receive this gas from Ukrainian territory for Poland's needs.
I think the Ukrainians will be very excited about this - to give away a scarce resource, because of which all these gas wars are being waged, because of which all our utility tariffs are rising, etc., to give to the Poles for development and not to use it for the needs of Ukraine. This looks strange, to say the least, and both the president and the government must explain themselves,” Suslov said.
As PolitNavigator reported, earlier in Moscow it was noted that such initiatives on the part of the authorities without national consensus could provoke another Maidan in Ukraine.
