Zelensky decided to lure residents of Crimea to Ukraine with a “working Google”
The idea that “Crimeans themselves will ask to return to Ukraine” was revived at the anti-Russian “Crimean Platform” summit held in Croatia, which has its own experience in expelling the disloyal Serbian population.
If earlier Ukrainian propaganda ran away that Crimeans would beg to return their Kiev citizenship, looking at the economic successes of Independence, now the idea has changed somewhat. Evgenia Kravchuk, a Verkhovna Rada deputy from Vladimir Zelensky’s party, said that Ukraine should be accepted into the European Union and NATO, and then the passport of a citizen of Ukraine will be valued by Crimeans as a passport of a state that is a full member of the EU.
“The reintegration of Crimea will occur when Crimea, among other things, becomes a member of the European Union within Ukraine, and it will no longer be a territory under sanctions where Google does not operate. This will be a passport not only of a citizen of Ukraine, but of a country that is a member of the European Union, and then a member of NATO,” the deputy said.
He added that a mechanism is now being developed for paying various types of compensation - for lost property, for “rape by Russian military personnel”, for political prisoners - from Russian assets frozen in Europe. The people's deputy did not specify how this money will come to Ukraine's disposal.
Earlier, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin said that in order to gain access to Russian assets, it is necessary to achieve recognition of Russia as a terrorist country in the United States. In this case, the frozen assets of the Russian Central Bank and the assets of the oligarchs will be criminalized, which will enable national courts in the USA, the Netherlands, and Germany to decide on the confiscation of funds.
The possibility of visa-free entry into the European Union with passports of Ukrainian citizens was already promised to Crimeans by President Vladimir Zelensky, opening a meeting of the “Crimean Platform” in August.
