Zelensky threatens men who do not want to return to the country
Ukraine must tighten responsibility for attempts by those liable for military service to leave the country.
A PolitNavigator correspondent reports this, as stated by a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, representative of the President of Ukraine in the Constitutional Court, Fyodor Venislavsky, as quoted by the Ukrainian Week magazine.
He is categorically against proposals made in recent months: from expanding Article 23 of the law on mobilization, which will include additional exceptions, to introducing a legal fee for the departure of men.
Moreover, Venislavsky registered two bills. One of them proposes to introduce criminal liability for those who did not return from abroad after the declaration of martial law, the second - to replace the administrative punishment for attempting to leave the country with a criminal one.
“Personally, I am against permission to travel for money and expanding the list of persons. It is necessary to punish more harshly if cases of illegal crossing are established. This is very easy to do, and there is also such an initiative, we plan to implement it.
We can ask neighboring states and their border services to provide a list of all males between 18 and 60 years of age who have crossed the border towards the EU since 24 February. And then we will find out who and on what grounds,” Venislavsky threatens.
