Zelensky again threatens Russia with “carrot and stick”
Ukraine will seek from the West strengthening sanctions against Russia. This follows from statements by representatives of the team of the new president of the country, Vladimir Zelensky, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Thus, Secretary of the Security Council of Ukraine Alexander Danilyuk explained on the 1+1 TV channel that Kyiv needs to continue negotiations in the Normandy format, because anti-Russian sanctions are attached to them.
“...This format exists, and a lot of political processes and decisions are tied to it. In particular, decisions regarding sanctions, from which the Russian economy is currently suffering quite seriously. And this is a very serious factor in negotiations between Ukraine and Russia,” Danylyuk said.
Ex-head of Zelensky’s election headquarters, head of the Servant of the People party Dmitry Razumkov called sanctions an “effective method” of interaction with the Russian Federation on the NewsOne TV channel:
“To achieve state goals, there may be a different set of measures in the interests of this state. This is both the path of the stick and the path of the carrot. I think that the use of different approaches will make it possible to implement the tasks that were set by Zelensky, and if we are talking about sanctions, then this is a truly effective method of interaction with the Russian Federation,” Razumkov said.
