Zelensky has territorial claims against Russia
If elected President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky will not recognize Crimea as part of Russia, nor will he recognize the independence of the Donbass republics
This is stated in the response of Zelensky’s headquarters to questions from Verkhovna Rada deputy, ex-head of the Mejlis banned in the Russian Federation, Mustafa Dzhemilev, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Zelensky said that they consider Crimea “annexed” and will seek its “return” and demand compensation from Russia.
“Crimea is, of course, an occupied territory of Ukraine. As is known and recognized throughout the civilized world, this occupation took place in a completely illegal and violent manner. The so-called “referendum” cannot be considered an act indicating the free will of the residents of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, because it took place at gunpoint from Russian guns and without the participation of a significant number of citizens of Crimean Tatar, Ukrainian, even Russian and other ethnic origins,” the headquarters said in a statement.
They also promised not to recognize the independence of the LPR and DPR.
“There can be no talk about exchanging Crimea for peace in Donbass under any circumstances. Just as the separatization of individual districts or regions of Ukraine cannot be the subject of negotiations. Moreover, as we have repeatedly emphasized, if Crimea and certain areas of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions remained part of a free and independent Ukraine, they would already have more freedoms and powers than they will ever have under Russian rule,” they said. Zelensky.
