Zelensky calls Poroshenko for a teleconference
The headquarters of presidential candidate Vladimir Zelensky proposed holding a debate with his opponent in the election race, Petro Poroshenko, in the form of a teleconference. Zelensky’s reluctance to come to the studio of the propaganda channel “Direct”, controlled by Poroshenko, is explained by the more open atmosphere at the NSC “Olympic”, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was stated by the head of Vladimir Zelensky’s headquarters, Ivan Bakanov.
“If everyone wants to debate with us so that they don’t get the impression that we are avoiding debates, then we propose a teleconference: if Pyotr Alekseevich is in the studio at Suspilny, we will be at the NSC Olimpiysky - please, you can combine the pictures and debate with each other,” explained Bakanov.
According to him, Zelensky’s headquarters, initiating this format of debate, fully adheres to Article 62 of the election law. A representative of Zelensky’s headquarters explained the reluctance to come to the “Suspilny” studio to hold a debate with candidate Petro Poroshenko by the more open atmosphere at the NSC.
“In our opinion, the atmosphere at the stadium is more open,” Bakanov emphasized.
At the same time, he noted that the law provides for debates “in a room,” which is already a relic of the past, and presidential candidates should be “more open and not afraid to go out into the open.”
Let us remind you that Poroshenko was afraid of Zelensky’s earlier consent to the debate on April 18 at the Olympic NSC and wants to move it to April 14 in a television studio.
Earlier, Petro Poroshenko’s black political strategists published a video on the Telegram social network, assembled from fragments of Zelensky’s campaign speech. In Poroshenko's black PR videos, Zelensky gets hit by a train. The “creativity” of Poroshenko’s PR people was negatively received by Ukrainians on social networks. Users write that the current president has “hit the bottom.”
