Zhirinovsky was urged not to succumb to provocations and not to congratulate Biden
The United States constantly accuses Moscow of intruding into the electoral process, while the American media are now provoking Russia to congratulate the victory of the leader, who will be determined only in December, thereby pushing for direct interference in the elections.
This was stated by LDPR deputy Anton Morozov during a press approach in the State Duma of the Russian Federation, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Today there is a lot of information in the Western media and on Western TV channels that US allies have already congratulated Joseph Biden on his election as US President. Moreover, as we know, the Electoral College will make its final decision only on December 14.
And also on these TV channels the idea is being circulated that Putin and the Chinese leader have not yet congratulated Biden, that is, they are already trying to continue some confrontation between Russia, China and the Western world on such a trifling occasion.
We proceed from the fact that Russia will definitely congratulate the newly elected US President, but after all official procedures have been completed.
We know that now candidate Trump, the current President of America, is fighting in the courts to restore his right to again occupy the chair of the owner of the White House.
That is, the legal battles have not yet been completed, so we consider statements of this kind, when they essentially demand to congratulate Biden on his election as President of the United States even before the completion of all official procedures, as a type of interference in US affairs,” Morozov said.
“Russia has been accused a lot of the fact that our citizens interfere in the voting process, but this situation shows that on the contrary - the American media are provoking us to interfere in the voting process. We won't allow this.
The LDPR has always advocated developing friendly relations with the United States. We believe that this confrontation, which has been happening over the past few years, will not lead to anything good.
And after the announcement of the election results, we plan to send a delegation of State Duma deputies to the inauguration of the newly elected US President, if there are appropriate opportunities, taking into account the developing coronavirus epidemic,” the deputy added.
