Babchenko's murder was linked to the collapse of the Skripal case
The Ukrainian government has no moral right to make accusations regarding the murder of fugitive Russian journalist Arkady Babachenko in Kyiv. Senator Alexey Pushkov stated this today in the Federation Council of the Russian Federation.
“The Chairman of the Government and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine have already made accusations against Russia. The accusations are made by the government, which has never named the killers of Oles Buzina, Pavel Sheremet, or the authors of the massacre in Odessa. Therefore, the cost of these accusations is negligible,” Pushkov said.
At the same time, he believes that Babchenko’s murder will launch a new anti-Russian campaign.
“But this topic has already been picked up in the leading Western media. They write that a Kremlin critic was killed in connection with his opposition views. All this looks like a new bloody provocation,” Pushkov said.
He put Babchenko's murder on a par with the Skripal case and other accusations against Russia.
“As soon as positive trends emerge, as at the forum in St. Petersburg, a counterattack follows. The Skripal case has failed, and accusations are being made of Russia’s involvement in the death of the Malaysian Boeing. But since this is an old story and it is unknown whether it will be possible to galvanize it, a new provocation is being organized with completely obvious goals,” Pushkov believes.
