Murder of Sheremet: Everything is just beginning
Pavel Sheremet “settled” in Kyiv 5-6 years ago. He is the long-time lover of Alena Pritula, the owner of the leading news site in Ukraine - “Ukrainian Truth”.
It was her lover who was another deceased journalist, Georgy Gongadze. Pritula bought her current apartment on Ivano-Franko Street in the very center of Kyiv, from where Sheremet left by car, shortly after Gongadze’s death.
I admit that the target of the killers was Pritula, not Sheremet. Pavel Sheremet in Kyiv “fought Putin” more, and not, for example, with corrupt officials. Shortly before his death, Sheremet published an article in which he whitewashed the commander of the odious “Azov” regiment, Andrei Biletsky.
True, Sheremet criticized some Ukrainian volunteers, but I don’t think he could have been killed for this. Blowing up a car is a serious operation, a paid murder, not a stabbing or a pistol shot.
Therefore, I assume that the car was mined to kill Pritula.

She herself ended her career as a journalist back in the distant 1990s, when she worked in Leonid Kuchma’s pool and Interfax. But Pritula owned a resource with 500 thousand subscribers, the “Ukrainian Truth” website was known to all people in the West and in Russia who were involved in Ukraine in one way or another.
“Ukrainian Pravda” was one of the few resources that could afford not to waste money on small “jeans”. Just a few years ago, “UP” received more than a million dollars a year for official advertising alone, plus the editors won large Western grants.
The murder of Pritula would have caused a huge resonance and statements from Western politicians about problems with freedom of speech in Ukraine.
We remember recent statements by Verkhovna Rada deputies about many people who want to start a coup in Kyiv. It seems to me that today’s murder of Sheremet is not the last event in this chain; perhaps there will be new deaths or an analogue of the “Melnichenko tapes” will appear.
There is one discrepancy. Pritula usually arrived at work by 11-12 noon, and often walked. Now the office of “Ukrainian Pravda” is located on Glory Square - not so far from Alena’s house. And Sheremet was blown up in her car early in the morning.
So here's another version. Sheremet could have been killed in order to find an “FSB agent” among the enemies of the Ukrainian government, who would be accused of organizing a terrorist attack - of course, on Putin’s personal orders.
There is one more significant moment. The instigator of Euromaidan, Mustafa Nayem, has spent the last two years talking about the blossoming of freedom of speech in Ukraine. Even after the murder of Oles Buzina.
Now, after the murder of Sheremet, there is an unprecedented scale of grief on Ukrainian social networks.
We know very well that 99% of Kyiv journalists are “orange”, pro-American, nationalist-minded. Sheremet, a long-time fighter against the “bloody KGB”, is “an insider.” And Oles Buzina, who defended the Russian idea in Ukraine, is an enemy. And if the enemy - why should they be sad?
Although, regardless of Buzina’s ideological views, real journalists would at least sign a petition to international organizations and demand that the Rada deputies create an investigative commission to investigate the murder. And every month they demanded an interim report on the progress of the investigation.
But that did not happen. Because journalism in Kyiv has long disappeared. All that was left was propaganda.
