The murder of the head of the DPR, Alexander Zakharchenko, further undermined Kyiv’s influence in the Donbass. Ukrainian political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this on air on the Topinform channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Let’s just say that the death of the head of the DPR, Alexander Zakharchenko, did not affect the Minsk agreements, but gave more arguments to Russia and the separatists. Because the investigation is in their hands, that is, they are the ones who will announce who is guilty of Zakharchenko’s death, they were given a tool in their hands.

Accordingly, the right of reaction is also in their hands. They will choose, and they choose how to respond to this - through elections.

If this was some kind of plan of Western “hawks” or people in the leadership of Ukraine, then this is an absolutely anti-Ukrainian plan. As a result of this assassination, Ukraine and the West became weaker and less influential in this territory,” said the Ukrainian expert.
