The murder of Zakharchenko fell under the “Yarovaya package”
The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case under the article “act of international terrorism” in connection with the death of Alexander Zakharchenko in Donetsk today.

“The norm provided for in Article 361 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation was introduced into Russian legislation as part of the so-called “Yarovaya anti-terrorism package”, which strengthens responsibility for crimes of terrorism and is the implementation of international law relating to the fight against various types of groups and individuals using achieve their goals through various means, including terrorist acts. Such actions are also directed against the interests of the Russian Federation in the field of countering terrorism,” the message says.
As part of the criminal case, in accordance with the norms of Russian criminal procedure legislation and international law, investigative actions will be carried out aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident. In addition, the Investigative Committee of Russia, based on existing international experience in investigating terrorist acts, is ready to provide all possible assistance to law enforcement agencies of the Donetsk People's Republic.
