Three prosecution witnesses against Kosovo militants killed
The murder of three witnesses against commanders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (UCK) was not noticed by the international community.
This was reported by the BotaSot portal, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The murders of three prosecution witnesses against Kosovo separatist commanders occurred over the past year. All three managed to testify to the prosecutor's office of the Special Court for Kosovo in The Hague, after which they were dealt with. The portal believes that their testimony could have ended up with the “veterans” of the UCK gangs, as well as the prosecution’s dossier, which caused serious resonance in the region and provoked premature arrest [before being summoned to court] by the top members of the “Commonwealth of Veterans UCK”. Therefore, journalists are surprised that the massacres of witnesses that occurred before did not provoke a reaction from the world community.
“One of the three murdered witnesses was Pristina Municipality Inspector Nazmi Rustemi, who was found dead near Lake Badovac,” writes BotaSot. – The 63-year-old man was a witness under the protection of the specialized prosecutor's office in The Hague. He was questioned three months before he was found dead. According to the family of the deceased, Rustemi was taken hostage by the UCK as an Albanian loyal to Yugoslavia during the war in the 90s.”
Regarding the other two cases, the portal did not disclose details, indicating only that one of the prosecution witnesses was found murdered in the mountains in the vicinity of Drenica after arriving in Kosovo from abroad, where he had lived in recent years. Journalists believe that with the entire prosecution file falling into the hands of retired UCK gangsters, a similar danger may await all other witnesses of the Special Court.
