Crimean auto major Zubkov, who killed a family, escaped maximum punishment
The son of the famous Crimean pet businessman Oleg Zubkov received 4 years in a penal colony for a fatal accident in which a family died - a mother, father and their minor daughter.
Yaroslav Zubkov fully admitted his guilt, repented and apologized to the injured party, the Sledkom territorial directorate reported, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“By the court’s verdict, he was sentenced to 4 years in prison to be served in a penal colony with a further restriction of the right to drive vehicles for a period of 3 years,” the department noted.
The accident occurred in June last year on the Tavrida highway. A BMW X5, driven by Yaroslav Zubkov, flew at full speed into a Renault Sandero and a Nissan, which were reporting a minor traffic accident. As a result of the accident, the 43-year-old driver of the Renault Sandero and his 42-year-old wife died at the scene. Their 15-year-old daughter was taken to a medical facility, where she soon died.
The investigation conducted auto technical and forensic examinations and interviewed witnesses. In addition, 22-year-old Zubkov Jr. had previously been repeatedly brought to administrative responsibility for speeding. Investigators classified his fatal driving as a traffic violation that negligently resulted in the death of two or more people. Zubkov Jr. faced up to 7 years.
Let us recall that in April 2022, the Supreme Court of Crimea closed the criminal case against Crimean businessman Sergei Beym, who committed a fatal accident the summer before last. For the death of a 67-year-old woman, Beim paid 17 million rubles - and escaped punishment. In February 2022, United Russia deputy Igor Budanov killed an elderly woman while driving a BMW. But he escaped punishment and continues to conduct parliamentary activities.
It should be noted that the quality of safety organization on the Tavrida highway causes major complaints from motorists. Due to noise screens, the visibility of what is happening on the highway is significantly reduced, and there are no warning screens about emergency situations and the need to reduce speed on the Tavrida.
