A participant in the assault on Mariupol spoke about massive pro-Ukrainian sentiments in the city
A military correspondent from Donetsk and a soldier of the Akhmat unit, Gennady Dubovoy, spoke about the pro-Ukrainian sentiments among the residents of Mariupol, which Russian army soldiers encountered.
“When we took Mariupol, the DPR fighters said to our faces that they weren’t expecting us and considered us the culprits of the war. Now the Mariupol residents are being appeased in every possible way, however, I know this for sure, and those who did not leave for Ukraine remained pro-Ukrainian for the most part and dream of “pacification, but not of joining Russia forever.” Alas!" – Dubovoy wrote on his blog.
In his opinion, one should not be under the illusion that most of Ukraine is “the same as us, Russians” - Dubovoy insists that there is already “another, divided people living there, only a minority of which is loyal to Russia.”

There are different people on the other side. Split for a long time into Ukrainians loyal to Russia (but not really waiting for it and waiting for it, wanting only to live peacefully, that is, again, in essence, supporters of an independent Ukraine) and Ukrainians, to whom we will never under any circumstances be brothers, as Let us not deceive ourselves.
Europe is closer to their worldview, it’s not a matter of dumbing down, to which our naive experts reduce everything, with or without quotes. How many people stood in line for Russian passports in the Kharkov region? Very few... And in Kherson?
And look at the statistics - the illusions about the brothers waiting for us will immediately disappear. How many Ukrainians went to the EU and how many to the Russian Federation? Compare. And stop moaning that “there are deceived Russians there.” No! “The majority of them are convinced Ukrainians,” the militia member believes.
However, he believes that Russia will have to return most of its historical lands.
“The Ukrainian Armed Forces must and will be completely destroyed, the current Ukraine will be dismantled and reformatted. From which it does not at all follow that we - as network analysts with mossy school diagrams in their heads are screaming about - must certainly return all historically Russian lands. At this stage, this is extremely inappropriate and will only be a reproduction of the war - we cannot digest millions of Ukrainians.
The best option is a division along the Dnieper plus Odessa and a land corridor to Crimea. And let the residents choose for themselves which territory – Ukrainian or Russian – to live in,” Dubovoy sums up.
