Chisinau, May 22 (Navigator, Petr Alekseev) – Participants in the negotiations on the Transnistrian settlement in the “5+2” format, the next round of which is scheduled for June 5-6 in Vienna, must abstract themselves from the crisis in Ukraine. This opinion was expressed yesterday in Chisinau by the special representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Radojko Bogojevic.

According to him, the preliminary agreement in Tiraspol and Chisinau on the agenda of the meeting “took place in a businesslike and friendly atmosphere.”

“I hope this trend will continue in the future, both at the level of political representatives of the Republic of Moldova and Pridnestrovie, experts, and at the level of communication between mediators and observers,” said the diplomat, quoted by Infotag.

Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Evgeniy Karpov named several issues included in the agenda from Moldova. This is the freedom of movement of citizens from one bank of the Dniester to the other, the difficult situation with the cultivation of land by farmers beyond the Tiraspol-Kamenka highway, the issues of the functioning of schools in Transnistria with teaching in the Romanian language, subordinate to the Republic of Moldova, the diplomat said.

He believes that it is time for the negotiators to get out of the situation of “misunderstanding of each other’s positions.”

“This concerns the prospects for Moldova’s entry into the EU economic space, the signing of an Association Agreement, including free trade with the EU. We once again remind our partners in Tiraspol that they are not directed against economic agents of Transnistria,” Karpov said.

Touching upon the prospects for discussing issues of the “third basket” - institutional and political relations between the parties, Karpov noted that diplomats regularly touch on this topic indirectly.

“We wanted to talk about this in a broader perspective, and our partners from the OSCE support us in this,” he noted.

Tiraspol previously stated that within the framework of the negotiations it is necessary to seek compromises to unblock problematic aspects in the relations of the parties and remove the artificial barriers that exist today.

The participants in the negotiations in the “5+2” format are Moldova and Transnistria (parties to the conflict), Russia, Ukraine, the OSCE (mediators), the USA and the EU (observers).
