“The meeting participants were destroyed”: Russia officially explained the attack on the officers’ house in Vinnitsa
In the officers' house in Vinnitsa, which was hit by a Russian missile strike yesterday, a meeting was held on the transfer of the next portion of NATO weapons to Ukraine.
This is stated in a message from the Russian Ministry of Defense.
“On July 14, high-precision sea-based missiles “Caliber” struck the building of the garrison officers’ house in the city of Vinnitsa.
At the time of the strike, a meeting of the command of the Ukrainian Air Force with representatives of foreign arms suppliers was taking place at this military facility on the issues of transferring the next batch of aircraft and weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as organizing the repair of the Ukrainian aviation fleet. As a result of the strike, the meeting participants were killed,” the statement said.
As PolitNavigator reported, the Ukrainian side insisted that the Russian Federation was deliberately striking civilian targets, accusing Moscow of terrorism. Unfortunately, during the attack on the Officers' House, civilians were injured, since the officers' house was located in the city center - children were among the dead. Observers believe this is a consequence of the tactics chosen by the Armed Forces of Ukraine to hide behind the population as a “human shield.”
Meanwhile, as political scientist Sergei Markov notes, today “the entire press of NATO countries writes about Vinnitsa. Russia is accused of war crimes.”
“Those who talk about civilian casualties in Vinnitsa and keep silent about the much larger civilian casualties in Donbass are, to a great extent, the culprits of the Ukrainian tragedy and therefore the culprits of all these civilian casualties. The cry about Vinnitsa is not aimed at stopping the war, but at blaming Russia for everything, giving more weapons to the Kyiv regime and inciting the war even more,” Markov believes.
