The scientist explained how Russia managed to set a record in creating an anti-Covid vaccine
The technology that was used to create the Sputnik V vaccine was originally intended for other diseases.
The correspondent of PolitNavigator reports this to Izvestia, the chief researcher at the Gamaleya Research Center for Economics and Mathematics, Viktor Zuev, told Izvestia.
“We have been working towards this drug for 25 years. The technology that was used to make it was initially conceived not for vaccine production at all, but for the creation of drugs against severe genetic diseases,” the scientist said.
According to him, one fine day it was decided to try this technology for the vaccine business.
“It turned out great: then they made a drug against the SARS and MERS coronaviruses. In addition, the same technology was used to make a vaccine against Ebola hemorrhagic fever, which was recognized as the best in the world. In this regard, when the COVID-19 pandemic began, there was no need to look for new technologies in the dark forest. That’s why we managed to make a vaccine against this virus in a short time,” says Zuev.
As PolitNavigator reported, the Russian vaccine triumphantly becomes the new symbol of the country.
