The scientist explained why Russia cannot make concessions to the West
The West will not be friendly towards Russia, if only because it has too many resources that other countries are laying claim to.
Boris Dolgov, a senior researcher at the Center for Arab and Islamic Studies at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, stated this at a round table in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“To this day, in certain circles of the Russian government there is an illusion, which was in the late 80s and 90s, that if Russia gives in here, gives in there, and the West will open its friendly arms to us. And now it is present.
We see this trend that it is necessary to find contacts and reach agreements. Yes, I agree, we need to reach agreements, we don’t need to immediately break off all contacts and go into a “head-on” confrontation.
But we must keep in mind that there will not be this friendly perception of Russia, since the very fact of the existence of Russia with its enormous natural resources is a factor due to which there will always be pressure on Russia,” the expert said.
