This opinion was expressed in an interview with Moskovsky Komsomolets by the director of the Kyiv Center for Political Research and Conflictology Mikhail Pogrebinsky, commenting on Saakashvili’s statement that Poroshenko allegedly wants to deprive him of Ukrainian citizenship through the court and expel him from the country.
“Most likely, the purpose of Saakashvili’s statement was to prevent Poroshenko’s actions to deprive him of his citizenship, regardless of whether the president had launched this process or not,” the expert believes. – The head of Ukraine and his comrades from the Popular Front are dreaming of how to get rid of Saakashvili. He should not be surprised by this, since at first he was given a wonderful opportunity for self-realization in the Odessa region. But the head of the region did not want to play by the established rules and began to accuse the top officials of the state of corruption, opposition to reforms, and so on. However, it will be difficult to get rid of Saakashvili, since according to the Constitution, a person can be deprived of a Ukrainian passport only if he received it illegally, for example, by providing incorrect data in the documents.”
