“It’s surprising that Poroshenko is still accepted in Europe”
Political scientist Denis Denisov is surprised that German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron agreed yesterday to meet with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.
“Visits of this kind are surprising because Poroshenko is still received in European capitals. One could be convinced more than once of his inability to negotiate and lack of honesty,” Denisov told PolitNavigator.
He believes that any negotiations with Poroshenko are pointless as long as Ukraine takes a destructive position.
“The problem is not in Poroshenko’s meetings, but in the laws that are being adopted in Ukraine. They demonstrate that Ukraine is not ready to resolve the conflict in Donbass. The lack of reaction from Western partners to the high-profile laws adopted, including the law on reintegration, is worrying. They are aimed at worsening the situation,” Denisov said.
