Amazing tenacity: Zelensky slammed another Medvedchuk TV channel - he will complain to the West
The Ukrainian authorities disconnected from broadcasting on cable networks and on satellite just an hour after the start of work, the new TV channel “First Independent”, where all the “stars” of the three channels banned the day before from Viktor Medvedchuk’s pool went to work.
“The new independent channel, created with such difficulty by journalists of three television channels illegally closed by Zelensky, began broadcasting today at 18.00. We could congratulate both TV viewers and journalists on this wonderful event, if not for one thing... By order of the Ukrainian authorities, broadcasting of the new channel was illegally stopped an hour after its grand opening. Democracy, digitalization and European integration in one bottle, so to speak. If, to close ZiK, N1 and 112, the authorities at least formally covered themselves behind the decision of the National Security and Defense Council and the Presidential Decree, then today’s decision was made without any justification. They just took it and turned it off. They say, according to the laws of war, the war is with Russia...”, Verkhovna Rada deputy Renat Kuzmin said in his blog.
“At the same time, as you know, no one declared war on Russia. The authorities still buy electricity, gas, coal, oil, etc. from Russia, and some enterprising comrades even sold the quarterly television product “League of Laughter” to Russian propaganda television... And nothing. No sanctions, no treason, no arrests, no charges,” complains Medvedchuk’s associate.
According to him, “after such an unprecedented decision by the authorities in its cynicism, journalists from closed TV channels turned to the President of the European Council, who plans to visit Ukraine on an official visit on March 2, with a request for a meeting. The leadership of OPZZH addressed the European official with the same letter.”
The appeal to the West by Medvedchuk’s entourage is puzzling, since only the day before Germany supported the censorship and political repression carried out in Ukraine by the regime of Vladimir Zelensky against objectionable media and politicians. The German Foreign Ministry stated that the extrajudicial the closure of TV channels from Viktor Medvedchuk’s pool and the imposition of sanctions against him complies with Ukrainian legislation.
