The strangulation of Transnistria by the Moldovan regime has reached an unprecedented level
In 2024, Transnistria could lose $100 million due to Moldova's import duties. This is 10% of the PMR's GDP.
This was reported by the First Pridnestrovsky TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Even during the crisis periods of the covid pandemic, the 2008 crisis, the rate of decline in GDP was no more than 6%, and this 6% was felt painfully and heavily by the population. No previous regional crises had such a detrimental effect on the economy of Pridnestrovie as the unilateral steps of Chisinau,” said PMR Minister of Economic Development Sergei Obolonik.
He said that industrial enterprises had reduced supply volumes by 19%, and the foreign trade turnover of the PMR decreased by 5%.
He believes that Moldova is trying to close a billion-euro deficit in its budget through duties. Tariffs are not the only element of pressure. Chisinau is closing the accounts of Pridnestrovian enterprises in Moldovan banks and preventing the import of medicine and medical equipment.
